STORY “MAN BREAKING THE BUDDHA STATUE”

I and other artists are playing guitar and singing at Agora – XQ expressing space. There is a bearded guy in a patchy and puckered clothes with emotionless eyes sitting on the ground corner and leaning against the rock “…”, beside an old Lavie water bottle, rubbed label, containing a half of colorless water. Naturally, it might be water.

A tall big man with emotionless face, glossy hair looks like a comfortable man. He is in an expensive coat, puts his hands into pockets exposing a deep blue swanky vest. He stops to give the guy a wrinkled paper, then keeps stepping with the rhythm as before. The drunk’s face lights up with an unexpected joy: Got without begging. The guy tremblingly open that paper – an advertisement cut from magazine. He looks after, raises his fist to the man and mumbles some unheard sentences meanwhile the man don’t stop, neither returns nor changes his steps. A woman in a red leather coat has witnessed everything laughing with her boyfriend and keeping track of “Chase” starting.

The drunk attempts to stand up and leaves behind a rag pile tracing his body. He staggers after the man persecuting him and still mumbles:

“why? Why he treats me so? I beg him nothing. Why he treats me so?”. Meanwhile, the man in coat keeps stepping calmly pass by Lac Pho bridge near the art town gate. He never looks back nor changes his steps.

I still wait the drunk, at the last time, endeavor to rush headlong to bulky back of the man as a rag bullet. However, he changes his mind at last, throws away valueless paper and strongly spits. Some spittle drop on leather shoes of a big woman makes her angry and pushes away. At that moment, she bumps against Buddha Statue exhibited there. It collapsed. Buddha’s smile was broken up, but compassionate smile is still in my mind.

PARADISE HISTORY

If it is said that misery started on the world since Adam ate a fruit of

“ knowledge tree”. In the Bible, paradise is a place of silly happiness. This explanation is not right because paradise history is only an original symbol for human fate. Meanwhile, knowledge is capable to stand on human fate and to distinguish between good and evil but not right or wrong.

Frankly, we are facing two kinds of knowledge: objective reason contrary to distortional subjective one by libertine and excessive imagination. Thus, legend of Adam and Eva was not happened in the world around but in each of our souls.

The struggle between Adam and Snake represents the illogical power inside of human continuing with the embroidery artwork: “when reason sleeps, evil comes” that XQ artists and artisans pray for what happening.

Thus, we wish for an era that the Redeemer come with us. It is consider that human being must be treated the disease “blind in knowledge” causing humankind becoming dangerous for the fellow-being and themselves

LET ME DIE IN THE CONFESSION OF LOVE

One night, it’s a strange night that I can’t sleep a wink all night. Till 1a.m, I got out of bed and took a walk. I wandered along Xuan Huong Lake. Then, I found I was in front of the church. It’s 5 am – daybreak, church bell rang repeatedly. The fog covering pine trees looks so marvelous. The ladies in white charming Ao Dai went to the church. Mothers and sisters carried vegetables to early market. In the distance, the artist leaned against pine trees to wait for morning bus. Tobacconist, roasted peanuts vender while the elderly did exercise… I saw embroiderers going to the workshop and chattering as birds singing in Dalat morning. All of them passed, greeted one another and me. I found a cosy love pervading inside me. On the way back home, I went down on my kneel by Xuan Huong Lake, handful of earth press against my cheek. At the moment, there are two truths flash upon in my mind:

+The first:

I was born and brought up in Dalat, where I have a strong attachment to community. Moreover, where form my character

+The second:

To be a Dalat citizen, how I am responsible to talk about my city.

On the feelings, I had wrote in my diary and kept till now: “ How the church bell! How the morning foggy Xuan Huong Lake. I wish I could die in paradise by Xuan Huong Lake when all people confess their love”.

          HOSPITALITY OF DALAT PEOPLE   

It is said that, Dalat history marked by immigrant series from various areas of the nationwide. The beauty of Dalat nature makes them close together. Their hope and memory intermingle and create the relationship that they belong to a community: community of Dalat people.

In the old time, Dalat is a thinly populated town, the weather is so cold. Even the distance between two houses is about 1km, it took about a day to Dalat center from Prenn Pass (for difficulty in transportation).

Travelers wish a house for rest to refresh or buy some foods. Moreover, the host wish welcome guest so-called “ Messenger of God” to tell them about stories from other places. Ones wish to give and others wish to get. As a result, Dalat hospitality is born.

Since then, a spare house born or the house of gardener which  is considered as “Messenger of God” house. The house always equips enough facilities and utensils for guest: bed, blanket, food, tea, fruit ect…, in front of the house, always there was a fire for guest finding easy to look for. However, it is impossible to stay up to keep fire, Dalat people used to bring up a dog, the character of which in Dalat highland usually parks at night, later and later, it’s getting colder and colder, the barking become a howl. Therefore, that sound echoes very far even if a guest in 10km far from the house could hear to come. In Dalat city, the barking by fire that help many people.

TRANH THÊU XQ XÂM NHẬP NHÀ "NGƯỜI NGA MỚI"

Tại một trung tâm thương mại nằm trên đại lộ Leningrad thuộc quận Tây-Bắc ở Mátxcơva, nhiều người Nga xuýt xoa trước “góc Việt Nam” thật rực rỡ và tinh tế - tranh thêu XQ.

Hoa đào đỏ thắm, Sapa mờ sương, cô gái Hà Nội dịu dàng bên bình sen, cụ già Tây Nguyên quắc thước với chiếc tẩu thuốc cong vút… Những bức tranh sống động, nhiều màu sắc, rất hút hồn và có giá không hề rẻ so với thu nhập của tầng lớp bình dân Nga.

Chiếc cầu nối để XQ đến với người chơi tranh Nga, những người am tường nghệ thuật và có thu nhập cao, là công ty Exclusive. Chị Anna Abyasova, Phó giám đốc công ty, giải thích: “Bản thân từ 'Exclusive' đã nói lên ý tưởng của chúng tôi. Nghĩa là 'độc nhất,' 'độc quyền.' 'Độc quyền' thì rõ rồi, Exclusive đã ký hợp đồng với công ty XQ ở Việt Nam để trở thành đại lý duy nhất tiêu thụ tranh thêu chất lượng cao ở Nga. 'Độc nhất' là vì chỉ có XQ mới làm ra những bức tranh thêu bằng tay tỉ mẩn, đơn chiếc và mang tính nghệ thuật tinh tế. Tôi chưa thấy những bức tranh như thế ở bất cứ nơi nào.”

Chị Anna “có duyên” với Việt Nam vì chồng chị có những người bạn quê Hà Nội rất thân thiết. Em trai chị, Sergey, đang loay hoay tìm hướng đầu tư mới. Chị “tham vấn”: Hãy đi Việt Nam! Thế là chị, cậu em và người bạn Việt “khăn gói” vào Đà Lạt. Tại đây cả 3 người bị hớp hồn bởi những bức tranh thêu bằng tay trên lụa. Một hợp đồng chóng vánh được ký giữa Công ty XQ và Exclusive với lô hàng đầu tiên trị giá 70.000 USD. Mục tiêu ban đầu của Exclusive là để người Nga biết đến dòng tranh thêu nghệ thuật của Việt Nam. Từ biết đến yêu, đến hâm mộ. Và rồi sau đó mới nghĩ tới chuyện tiêu thụ.

Thật ra, những bức tranh thêu XQ đầu tiên đến đất Nga trước tháng 7/2008, khi Exclusive còn chưa ra đời. Khách du lịch sang Việt Nam mang về những bức tranh khổ nhỏ. Chẳng ai tin chúng được làm ra chỉ bằng cây kim, sợi chỉ và đôi bàn tay khéo léo, nhẫn nại của những người phụ nữ Việt Nam. Phải đến lúc tại hội chợ triển lãm một nghệ nhân từ Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh sang ngồi “thêu mẫu” thì người Nga mới đi từ ngạc nhiên sang thán phục.

“Diệu kỳ,” “sự kiên trì quá mức tưởng tượng,” “sống động vô cùng,” “chỉ có phụ nữ Việt mới làm được”… là những lời khen tặng dành cho các sản phẩm của XQ và cho thợ thêu tài hoa và xinh xắn Tạ Thị Bích Lan, 22 tuổi. Bức tranh phong cảnh khổ nhỏ là kết quả một tháng lao động miệt mài của Lan. Có những bức tranh lớn, phức tạp các nghệ nhân phải dành hẳn một năm để thể hiện.

Anh Lê Ngọc Dũng, một người Việt tại Nga rất am hiểu về lĩnh vực tranh thêu, chuyên gia tư vấn của Exclusive cho biết: “Tranh XQ độc đáo ở chỗ tất cả các công đoạn đều được thực hiện bằng tay, loại trừ sự can thiệp của máy móc và computer. Ưu thế của tranh thêu tay là đơn chiếc, không trùng lặp như sản xuất theo lối công nghiệp. Mẫu cùng là một bông hoa nhưng qua sự thể hiện của mỗi nghệ nhân thì đều có cái gì đó riêng biệt, chịu ảnh hưởng của sự cảm thụ nghệ thuật, trình độ, tính cách của người thêu."

Theo anh, các nghệ nhân của XQ được đào tạo không chỉ kỹ thuật thêu mà còn được học cách thêu sao cho bức tranh có hồn. Điều này thì máy móc chào thua, dù hiện đại đến đâu. Tranh thêu máy có ưu thế là giá thành thấp nhưng sản phẩm mang tính công nghiệp, đồng loạt, vô hồn. "Những ai đã chơi tranh thêu tay nghệ thuật của XQ rồi thì không chấp nhận tranh thêu công nghiệp nữa."

Rất nhiều người Nga, đặc biệt là phụ nữ từ lứa tuổi trung niên trở lên, đến với Exclusive đều muốn mang về một sản phẩm của XQ. Người Nga ưa thích tranh hoa, phong cảnh thiên nhiên. Thể loại chân dung và tranh theo trường phái trừu tượng ít được lựa chọn hơn.

Khách tham quan của Exclusive đông nhưng khách hàng thực sự chưa nhiều. Anh Ngọc Dũng lý giải: “Khủng hoảng là một yếu tố quan trọng tác động đến doanh thu của Exclusive. Hơn nữa, giá thành của tranh XQ cao, 5.000 – 7.000 USD một bức nho nhỏ. Chỉ những gia đình thuộc diện 'trung lưu cứng' mới có thể chơi được. Với lại, không phải ai cũng tinh tường để có thể phân biệt được tranh thêu tay với tranh thêu máy. Song theo tôi biết, tranh thêu XQ đã bắt đầu xâm nhập phòng khách sang trọng của những 'người Nga mới.' Hy vọng sẽ có sự lan tỏa dần trong 'gu' thẩm mỹ của tầng lớp có thu nhập cao ở Nga, tạo thành một trào lưu mới. Dĩ nhiên, đây là điều không dễ dàng và cần có thời gian”./.
